A non-profit organisation launched in 2002 in the United States of America by Yvon Chouinard (founder and owner of Patagonia brand) and Craig Mathews (ex-owner of Blue Ribbon Flies Philanthropists). They donate more than 1% of their respective companies’ profits, and wanted to create a network capable of bringing together philanthropic companies with an easily recognisable label and a simple message. Their main argument to convince others to join the movement is to show that their businesses can be both flourishing and philanthropic. Since their creation it has gained around 6,000 members from nearly 91 countries, and more than 350 million dollars have been devoted to environmental associations.
